For Jon Dorenbos, magic, football, and overcoming adversity are all just part of a single inspiring journey. Here, you’ll learn about how Jon’s experiences lend themselves to his approach to his work. Read on in his speaker biography to discover how Jon’s professional and personal journeys dovetail.
INSPIRATION COMES WHEN YOU LEAST EXPECT IT
Somehow, Jon Dorenbos’ football career and life as an inspiring magician and keynote speaker may seem like an inevitability. But as anyone who has struggled with hardship knows, fortitude is what separates accomplishments from daydreams.
This is the thread that has carried through Jons younger years all the way up to the keynote speaker and man we know today.
Jon married his wife, Annalise, on June 16, 2017, on a beach in Mexico. Their daughter, Amaya Love Dorenbos, was born on May 26, 2019.
A lot of people ask Jon, “what’s life like on the road as a Keynote Speaker?” Here is a video of Jon speaking to 3 companies in 3 states in 24 hours.
Jon has been performing magic since the age of twelve. His interest in the illusionary pastime was inspired by his grandfather, who was an amateur magician himself.
He started playing football his freshman year in high school. However, the passion for magic never faded. For Jon Dorenbos, football and magic are just two sides to the same coin.
When asked what his most proud moment of his career was, Jon didn’t hesitate. Here are his words on his powerful life experiences:
“When I was in training camp with the Philadelphia Eagles and competing on America’s Got Talent. Think about it… I was playing in the NFL and performing magic on the #1 TV show simultaneously. At the top of my game in both professions.
I played the season opener against the Cleveland Browns. Got on a jet from Philadelphia to Los Angeles and competed on the Finals of AGT the next night. So cool.”
You can imagine how Jon Dorenbos’ Eagles time was almost like a childhood dream coming to fruition.
AN UNEXPECTED PIVOT
He was traded to the New Orleans Saints during training camp of the 2017 season. It was there that doctors discovered he had a heart condition that would require emergency open heart surgery. This debilitating condition was serious and ultimately ended Jon Dorenbos’ football career. He appeared on Ellen six weeks after surgery and gave a dazzling performance.
Ellen created a game show that Jon hosted. Jon would show up at your house and give you a chance to win money and crazy prizes. Here is one of Jon’s favorite moments hosting that show. After the episode was done filming… the cameras kept rolling as Jon surprised a little girl.

As you can imagine, for Jon Dorenbos, magic and life are just intertwined. And this all came to a head upon being published. His book titled, Life Is Magic, was released on ELLEN. Executive Producer, Mike Tollin, acquired the rights to the book and is making it a movie.
The top notch adapted script is written by John Gatins. You may recognize his name as the person who wrote the film FLIGHT. You may also know that John Gatins was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay. Surely, the adaptation of “Life is Magic” is in powerful hands.
